Europe online next month

Nintendo of Europe have officially announced that the European Wii service will go online on May 25th, 2007. The first online game is to be Mario Strikers Charged, not Pokemon as in other regions.

In Mario Strikers Charged, Big N has taken the world's most popular sport and turned it on its head. 5-a-side teams are used, with strong emphasis placed on each team's captain, who are more capable and have unique abilities.

Movements and strikes are done with a traditional analog stick and button combination, but Wii's motion controls are also put to good use in checking opponents and performing saves with the goalkeeper.

A multiplayer mode is featured, where up to four players can compete at once. Also you can take on players across the globe using the Wi-Fi connection in the aforementioned online mode.

I waited for this so long.

When does this hit North America?

Great news, I'm waiting to play bwii online. I can't wait, but how will Nintendo sort out codes? They better include instant random play as well as meet rooms where you personally decide who can have your friend code. If you can't play at all without a friends code, no one will bother. Message boards and meetup rooms please Nintendo.

Hey
Who knew that the first online game for Wii would be a Mario game? It's fitting however.

James
Wahoo, come on Big N get it right this time. Now all we need is to be able to by the Wii in england.

Elementrat
That's sooner than expected! I was thinking Online would get pushed back into 08. Good job Ninty. Just don't screw up the online launch. I wonder when the US will get it.

wiiplayerman
Too bad I live in the us.

cmk
Lucky. I hope we (usa) will get it first.

BonbonJoe

i need a wiieww
Ahh now I want mario strikers.

Koen van Beeck
Booyah! Does that mean Europe will be the first? I had my doubts about getting Strikers, but after hearing -this-..!

Online in Europe means online in Italy! It's also the sport italians kick ass at, soccer.

Mr Wii
Ahh man. I live in the US.

Ahmed
I live in the middle east (Saudi Arabia). What about us Nintendo?

Elementrat
I don't think Nintendo considers Saudi Arabia a big Market so it's highly unlikely they will ever make an attempt to launch an online service that caters specifically to you guys. My guess is that if you want, you will be able to hop onto Europe's.

Ahmed
The thing is that I have an American wii system, because all the retailers over here import the US units. The same thing happens with the Xbox360 (that means our sales indirectly are included to the US market), the only system that we officially have is the Playstation, since the 1st. I'm 24 years old, and I owned all Nintendo's systems (except the VirtualBoy of course); NES, Super NES, GameBoy, GB-Color, GB-Advanced, N64, DS, DS-Lite and eventually the wii. This includes most people living here at my age. Not only that, even my Mom knows who's Mario :P We have reliable retailers who supply us for more than 20 years. And we could buy things on-line too. I read GamePro & EGM since the early 90s. I play on-line since the first Xbox. Sony knows that Saudi Arabia isn't that small market, and that's why they haven't forgotten about us, even with the PS3. We do have Microsoft Arabia though, but they suck! 'cause they're here only for softwares and programming.

Elementrat
Sweet! I'm glad you guys get to play too. I thought The Middle East stuck to PC gaming for the most part. At least my family does (except me). I'm Pakistani but living in America so I'm good for now.
