Sega President Simon Jeffery says we won't be seeing Sonic the Hedgehog on a next-gen platform for quite some time (after the Olympics title that is).
"We are actually undergoing a fairly considerable refresh of Sonic as an intellectual property and as a character".
Wii's game Sonic and the Secret Rings is the first to reflect part of this change and has been a relative success. Sonic's other next-gen outing on the PS3 and Xbox360 however is slated as a disaster.
Aside from Secret Rings, Sonic's games have taken a rocky path in recent times, their quality more or less whizzing downhill. Let's hope his refresh does him good and we get to see him back at his best soon.

Yeah the xbox 360 version didn't do so well.

That is a good thing, but a very bad thing at the same time.

LOL nice pic. Yeah I admit every new sonic game loses its touch to the series.

I was never really a Sonic fan anyways.

Yep, Sonic Adventure 2 was the best Sonic game overall in my opinion; perhaps moreso than the 2D ones. If we see one better than SA2, I will cry for joy; you can count on it.

Here's my idea, make Sonic jack cars and commit crimes in a pseudo metropolis and watch the sales skyrocket!

Thank god. The Xbox 360 version DOES suck, and I hear the Secret Rings owns. I need it. Finally Sega's getting their head out of their asses recently.

I hope this doesn't mean they're changing his species or anything. His shoes though would look better in white or black.

No sonic games for some time, oh great it's for the better.

That sucks. Oh well. Let's hope Sonic comes back to our world one day.

That Sonic is mad hot! Those colors I mean.

One thing's for sure: the Sonic series has needed a makeover for quite a while. Let's just hope that Sega does it right and brings it back to its glory days.

Why don't they do a Sonic game like Sonic adventure 1 and 2 with the same freaking gameplay but with new graphics. That's all we need.
DragonFoxCoon said:
No, that's not what we need Kareshi. Though I enjoyed the Knuckles/Rouge levels, I wasn't impressed with the Tails/Eggman levels, or the dodgy camera control. I'm all for a reworking of the franchise, starting with BioWare's RPG. The next time we hear Sega say "let's give a hedgehog a gun", run for the hills.

Sega should just stay with Nintendo.

Sonic was the best, but nowadays his 3D games have failed. His 2D games are great. Best games are his 2D games.

I actually liked Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I like how it's not just speed (I also liked the chao). And Sonic and the Secret Rings is just awesome.
