Pitfall item in Smash Bros Brawl

Today's timely Super Smash Bros Brawl update shows off an item called the pitfall.

The origins of the pitfall are in Animal Crossing. If you get hit by this thing you'll be slipping down faster than the playstation brand name.

You can also set it on the ground, so the next fighter to come along falls through an invisible trap door.


I've got the tie, just need those shoes.


Stocks are up?

So I'm guessing this thing can do many different things. However, I think I may have see that item before, I'm not sure where though.

No, the Playstation brand name is traveling faster downward than anything ever recorded. About the pitfall itself though, I was really surprised and excited to see it. I always loved messing with the animals in Animal Crossing with those things, and now I can do it in Brawl too.

An animal crossing stage AND item. There is bound to be at least an AC assist and hopefully a playable character.

Never played animal crossing so the item is completely new to me. This should add a new degree of difficulty to a match if hitting an opponent causes them to fall through the floor.

The headlines here always get me! Anyway, it looks like a cool item, but that will be especially dangerous on single level stages. It seems inconceivable that the Playstation brand name may die a quick and painful death after dominating for almost 10 years.
