Wii's World 2006 Awards

The moment you've all been waiting for! Even if you had no clue it was coming, subconsciously you were waiting for this. 2006, a good year for gaming? Certainly.

Best Game of 2006

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
You know it, I know it, Kaz Hirai's giant crab knows it. Anything else would be a lie. Clearly the result of years of work by the industry's most talented, Zelda TP is crammed with ~40 hours worth of enjoyable gameplay. It has everything, great control mechanics, deep storyline and well developed, likable characters. If ever a game was worth MORE than the retail price, this is it. Truly an epic, and not only the best Wii game of 2006, the best game ever, across any platform.

An honorable mention should go to Wii Sports for showing off motion sensitivity and attracting people who would otherwise be ignorant to the joys of gaming.

Most Underrated Console

Nintendo Gamecube
The next generation is with us, so we say a fond farewell to the GameCube. Don't throw out those expertly crafted controllers yet though, Wii is backward compatible.

If you missed out on any Gamecube classics, you can probably pick them up cheap now. Some worthy of a mention: Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Super Monkey Ball, Killer 7, Zelda: Wind Waker, Pikmin, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Starfox Adventures, Ikaruga, F-Zero GX, James Bond 007: NightFire, Super Mario Sunshine, TimeSplitters 2, Luigi's Mansion, SSX Tricky, Swingerz Golf (aka Ace Golf).

NoNB was awesome, but it's true, pretty much everybody hated him. His sarcasm was hilarious. And Gamecube is definitely under-rated.

Go Hey! I won an award! I was kind of kind of disappointed that I didn't make it into the most intelligent posters though. I am a finalist in the National Geography Bee (Teens, US). Oh well. Riiidge Racer! Kaz Hirai, based on the 4 years I've lived in Japan, actually has pretty good English. We can bash Sony all we want, but he's actually an intelligent guy. An asshole, yes, but also a powerful business mind. The Ridge Racer video kind of makes me think, however, he is kind of losing his mind. In an interview with EGM, he actually forgot the price of the original playstation.

I would have completely forgotten luigi's mansion and pikmin. I already had TS2 on the ps2 and I'm very glad it was mentioned. That is one amazing game.

In my opinion Brawl will easily crack the top 3 in my book, while th PS3 would be lucky to crack the top 150. HA! XBox 360 actually managed to crack my top 10 with Crackdown, and Halo 3. Let's face it, Wii rules, PS3 sucks, XBox 360 is pretty good but the Wii is just out of its league.

History lesson: The japanese were going to make peace with with a peace treaty and they did. But after the japanese leader and the crab leader went into the hot tub. The japan leader ate the crab leader and it was good. That's how lobster was made into food.

Gamecube's a great console, but what happened with n6 many developers left Nintendo for Sony and Microsoft. I got a gamecube and it's great. It had really good graphics for that time. Too bad nobody appreciated it. Good thing Wii got backwards compatibility so I can enjoy gamecube games.
