Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

If you think you knew what it felt like to be the bounty hunter behind the visor, think again. Take aim at evil with Nintendo's revolutionary controller.

  • Players control Samus by moving with the Nunchuk controller and aiming with the pointer, allowing for a level of immersion unlike anything they have ever experienced. Through the eyes of Samus, players experience a quantum leap in first-person control as they wield the Wii Remote, the ultimate device for the first-person shooter genre.
  • Samus will employ well-known power-ups like the Grapple Beam and Morph Ball, as well as a bunch of new surprises, to help her survive her coming trials.

Game Storyline
The Galactic Federation's Base Sector Zero is under attack by Space Pirates. Samus must boot up the generator to restore the defense systems. But at the end of her path, someone awful is waiting for her.

Characters
Samus, Dark Samus, the Galactic Federation and many new bounty hunters.

How to Progress Through the Game
The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from Corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Special Powers/Weapons/Moves/Features
Besides using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to pull off amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run, players also will have an array of different weapons at their disposal. In true Metroid fashion, these will become powered up as the game progresses. Not only that, but the controller will be used for a number of other game elements beyond the traditional first-person shooter standards.

Corruption?! Yeah right. This game'll be awesome!

The prime games are ok but make a prime for the 3rd game with Mother Brain on Zeabes only in first person 3d. I bet the name would be Metroid Prime 3: Finding the truth.

uh Sonic lover, if you're talking about this game it's called "Metroid Prime 3 Corruption".

I know that but read the whole thing DUH! I'm saying that is what the name of my game would be.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is shaping up to be the best Prime game yet. I absolutely loved the previous Prime games and I am absolutely sure that Retro will bring a winner for the Wii. I can't wait to buy the game when the Wii launches!

I agree with the need for a storyline for Metroid 5. Been waiting for that ever since M: Fusion.

This looks pretty sweet. Although I didn't Like Echoes, I hope this'll be a hit.

DEMON5007 said:

How many adventures can Samus have in between metroids 1 and 2? (wich is when the Prime series takes place). I want to continue the story of Samus and her 2d legacy. I agree with you, Old Man Hayes. I think the problem is that they got rid of the two main planets that Samus hunted on and the metroids are extinct. You really can't have a metroid game without metroids.

Avatar

metroid lover said:

People are saying that MP3 looks like gamecube which is crap. The game has more polygons, better lighting, bigger environments, smart a.i. and beautiful particle effects not possible on gamecube.

Wonder if they have any new metroids? Worker Metroids, perhaps. Or Warrior Metroids. Anyone else got any ideas?

I sure hope this is my last game. I'm freakin' tired of fighting these darn aliens over and over, give me a break. I better have cooler suits too and stronger weapons. Don't give me all that light beam stuff. I'm talkin' about ak-47s, rocket launchers, shotguns, pistols, plasma cannons and light sabers. And for suits, don't give me all that silver light stuff. I'm talkin' about bullet proof vests and other things like that. This will probably be my last game for all of you, but before I leave I just wanna thank Nintendo for everything and I love you all. NOT!

I love prime 1 + 2, best games ever. I have faith that Retro will make this one just as stunning, if not probably better!

Avatar

Sorry Samus. No 21st century stuff, you retro junkie! Metroid is set in the FUTURE, so think FUTURISTIC. Besides, you'd only use handguns if you didn't have the Varia suit or whatever.

Wii 911 said:

A little off topic but I'd realy like to see a Metroid storyline game (with metroid 1,2,3 and maybe 4) and actually give us a bit of story line, like a prolog or those things that tell us what's happening before the game. I REALLY didn't understand Metroid 1 until zero mission. But back to Prime 3, THIS IS DA BOMB!, NO.. THE NUKE! Lol. I saw Samus use the space jump ability from Metroid 3, wonder what else they'll have. Spring ball anyone? And Demon5007, maybe the metroid suit Samus had in fusion is taken by space pirates and they clone themselves with metroid DNA. Now that's Metroid to the max: Metroid Pirate!

Oh boy, oh boy! Samus posted something here about her game. Hey Samus, I'm a big fan and I can't wait for MP:3 corruption to come. I've seen your trailer and I think you'll have a hit.

Avatar

Someone Cooler Than You said:

Oh great. Samus is posting. 10 bucks says Spongebob is going to start posting about his game next. Come on! And why would Samus hope that's her last game? And why does she want weapons that would suck compared to the weapons she already uses? Pistols? And bullet-proof vests don't really do much for you when you're in space. And I'm really sure Samus dosn't talk like that (end rant). Any dang way, this game is gonna be great. I just beat Metroid DS yesterday, and I can't wait to beat this one!

Avatar

Samus said:

Look I was just kidding about those sucky weapons ok, jeez!

Avatar

Someone Cooler Than You said:

I'm sorry to disappoint everyone here, but the real Samus is currently in space preparing for her adventure in Metroid Prime 3. This "Samus" here is most likely some 40-year old dude who lives with his mom.

I really hope they drop that stupid light/dark work stuff, that was terrible!

Avatar

metroid lover said:

They won't use that light and dark world stuff twice in a game. They better not!

Avatar

Lord Random said:

What's so wrong about the light/dark thing? I actually thought it made the game more challenging. Okay it was annoying with how often you had to switch between worlds, but if it weren't there I would've completed MP2 overnight. It has its pros and cons, so don't just give three-word opinions.

Avatar

metroid lover said:

There's nothing wrong with the dark and light thing, I just said they wouldn't use it twice.

I agree with all of you, like I never played any of the MP games to be honest. I never got the money to buy any and I don't have a DS. But I rented out MP2 echoes once, that game rocked. My mate didn't think so but stuff him, he is an xbox kid but most of all he loves world of warcraft. That game pawns along with this one.

Pwn pwn pwn what the heck does that mean, anyways?

Well as the legend goes, someone misspelled the word own, and people liked it and so it became a "real" word. Not something most guys would use in a face-to-face conversation, but I digress.

Avatar

Lickwid said:

Sorry if this has been said before, but I didn't read the whole page. It would be cool to see some returning hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters. With the new graphics, they could look pretty cool. Also, imagine uploading new features to your DS, or to your Wii from the other console! Cross platform wifi battles would be cool, kind of tough to really pull off but I can always dream. Lickwid is my hunters name, add me to your rivals list.

Avatar

Jordy said:

Man oh man I bloody well can't wait for this! I love 3D over 2D and also will there be a 4th Metroid Prime? Also I think there should be more functions in 3, like maybe ball jump like in fusion or stuff like that. Also I think the beams in 1 were better than the beams in 2. Sorry to be nerdy!

Avatar

p-nut said:

I'm definitely going to get this game. Hopefully you can play multiplayer on wifi. I have every metroid game ever made.

Avatar

metroid lover said:

Metroid prime 3 will have you travelling between planets to stop the corruption and you will be able to control her ship from a third person view when using the command visor.

Avatar

myspacebarisbroken said:

What happened to zero-suit? I'm not such a Metroid fan and I've never seen her without her suit. Is that just Nintendo's idea for only one game, SSBB, or has she appeared without any suit on?

Avatar

wii-mote dude said:

I hope the beams are as cool in MP1. The plasma beam totally owned the light beam.

Avatar

metroid lover said:

She will have stackable beams like in the old Super Metroid games. One of her new beam weapons will be able to shoot through walls.

Avatar

wii-mote dude said:

Oh yeah. Shoot through walls? That will be AWESOME. Dark Samus, prepare to die!

Avatar

Hey said:

I hope it will end up looking more like Zelda when it launches.

January 1st 2007 at 12:01AM? Hopefully! I bought the GCN just for Prime and same thing for the Wii. I'm mad that I have to wait!

Avatar

They should make a Metroid Prime game with Samus not in the suit. That would be sweet!

Avatar

They should make a Metroid Prime game with Samus in her Birthday Suit! That would be even better.

Avatar

ganondorfrules said:

They should make a Metroid Prime with Samus in her Pimping Suit. That would be even better and funny.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

Samus never wore a pimping suit! And I hope this game is fun because I didn't like Metroid Prime 2.

Avatar

DarkVic said:

Either way, I'm still getting this classic.

Avatar

Master Foot said:

Why are they taking so long? Mmmm. Phazon.

Avatar

Lord Random said:

On the topic of Samus in her undies or whatever, maybe you'll have to do it the old way: Type Justin Bailey into the codes section. Maybe it'll be an unlockable extra like the fusion suit in Prime 1. Or maybe they'll do the old 'the better you do, the more flesh you can see at the end' thing like in Super, Fusion and Zero Mission. In any case, Samus is hot! Aw tittybiscuits, it's been delayed. Oh well.

Avatar

Lord Random said:

One more thing, anyone seen the vid showing a boss fight against Ridley? That's going to be kickass! I wonder if you'll have to fight Kraid at any point, and Mother Brain maybe. Who knows?

Avatar

Master Foot said:

Kraid got shafted from Metroid Prime 1, so it would be fair to at least bring him back respectfully. I hope that the music is better than MP2. The Amorbis and Thardus battles are the best in the series. Now that BigN PURPOSELY delayed it, I'm expecting a PERFECT PRIME! I bought GCN for MP alone and I will buy a Wii for the same.

Avatar

Scooby!_ Jew said:

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to get this game but I have no doubts that my brother is. I can never really "get into" games like Metroid, so it would just be kind of a waste of money for me. Nevertheless, this looks like one of Retro's better games and if I was really into the series, I'd buy it in a flash. And lastly: I really hope to see Mother Brain in this game, that would rule.

Avatar

Dunx said:

Nothing will ever top Super Metroid, unless they bring back 2D. Fusion and Zero were okay, but too straight forward. In my opinion, Metroid, Metroid II, and Super Metroid is where it's at and they should start again from there. Don't get me wrong, the Primes are fun, just in a different way.

Avatar

waterskipper said:

Wow. The details are just awesome. I've heard rumors of this game be rated M, but Nintendo made this game. They don't do M rated games!

Avatar

BrothaZ said:

If it is M, that'll definitely give Nintendo a darker and better reputation.

Avatar

I am BOSS said:

Well I must say this game looks amazingly superb. I can't wait to be running around as Samus (which I think is a bit strange some of you like her) and all in all I don't care about the other main enemies JUST KRAID *drools*.

I agree with Dunx. 2d is how Metroid started, and that's how Retro Studios should keep it.

This game would be better if it wasn't a first person view game. I like it when I see the whole character.

First person view makes the game more realistic and feels like you're in the suit. Seeing the whole character just wouldn't feel right.
