The founder and CEO of High Voltage Software, Kerry Ganofsky, has spoken out against Wii developers for weak efforts in using the machine's true capabilities.
"We think it's a real shame that publishers and developers aren't taking advantage of the technical possibilities of the Wii platform. Most Wii games don't even look as good as the later day PS2 titles and that's a real slap in the face to consumers. We believe that third-party developers need to step up to the plate and deliver. The Wii platform is capable of a lot more than what consumers have seen so far. We're hoping to raise a new bar. Most of the games on the Wii look like crap, and we want to change that".
Bold words indeed, but as the developers of the cool looking game The Conduit, as well as WiiWare titles like Gyrostarr and Animales de la Muertes, High Voltage are fast gaining a buzz in Wii circles.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

I love high voltage for making this point.

Awesome games and common sense? Both tied together on the Wii used to be impossible. But not ANYMORE.

Put conduit where your mouth is and I'm 100% behind you and will confirm that with my purchasing power as a consumer. Salute you high voltage but let's be honest, you won't reach capcom/factor 5 levels of visual wow, if you do then I'll go WOW WOW WOW all the way to the game store.

Go conduit.

Most of the Wii games do look like crap! And play like crap! Only a few are worth the cash, but the vc and now Wiiware is where it is at. I bought my Wii more for the vc considering I'm a hardcore retro gamer.

Wow. Listen to high voltage people.

High voltage looks like a big Wii supporter so far, it's good that they're speaking out about underestimating its graphics.

He's right.

Graphics don't make a game, but that's true.

I hope this game turns out really great. Also they should put in the best online on the system with voice chat. The Wii would then have higher standards for third party and raise the bar for online.
Nova said:
Finally we will see some successful third party games on Wii and break the cycle of stereotypically bad games on Wii made by most third party games. Wii should get its own halo 3's and rainbow six vegas's. We need epic third party support like that that can push the console far ahead of the others in terms of respect. Most reviews give the Wii a fun glance and then move on to the other consoles as if to think of the Wii as a fun little diversion before talking about real business. Wii should be the real business.

High Voltage is simply stating the obvious. The Wii's library is filled with shovelware that shouldn't see the light of day. Yes there are casual games which serve their purpose but there are others that should be burnt. The legacy of the Wii should not be that of crap.

Yay High Voltage! Someone understands my statement and doesn't get flamed or called a PS3/360 fanboy or graphics freak or being said something like, "Graphics doesn't matter". Yes, someone said that to me once.

HVS is doing the right thing. Calling all third parties to step up and hit a home run. Bravo, HVS, I think the Wii has a lot of potential to it.

They have a point on several of these thoughts. The quality is slipping for certain games, but others are still riding very strong, which are the ones I'm still playing. And as for graphics, GOD, gamers who judge games completely or mostly by the graphics are the worst thing to happen to the video game industry since THQ. Graphics aren't what make a game the gameplay and how long lasting the game is which is a quality Nintendo beats all other game systems in.
Albino said:
I agree. High Voltage just stated the obvious truth I've been thinking about since I first got my Wii and started getting games. Nintendo really needs to take it to the next level and graphically show up the PS3 and X360.
Quartz said:
Yeah, I totally agree with them. Wii needs less gimicky and crappy games.

I only heard bout HV about a week ago and now I love them. That shooter looks immense and now this.

I don't care about graphics if at least it's an actual reasonable body shape not just one block or a plain circle. It's the gameplay I care about, how fun would this be to have to pay for? A guy jumping on a pogo stick and no storyline objectives or high scores to make it more interesting, and all you could do is make it go up and down but it looks absolutely perfect and it looks so real if someone showed you a video of it they would think it was real life. Would you buy that, do you think it would be fun?

I think its annoying how there are so many unused properties and peripherals for the Nintendo Wii that have still not been mentioned yet and I think it's ridiculous how it's been two years since the Wii's launch and we haven't even seen the true potential of the Wii yet. Am I the only one that feels Punked? I mean c'mon. What Nintendo? I mean Nintendo developed Mario games for Apple and used it on the iPhone. Don't you think it's fair for apple to help develop an itunes channel for the Wii? There are just so many things that piss me off when it comes to things like that. It's like a damn waste of potential. Get off your lazy asses and give us the true potential of the Wii.

SSBB has some pretty good graphics. But with Wii sports I see what you mean.

What about super mario galaxy and metroid prime 3? Those games were true eye candy. Actually, eye cake.
