Nintendo big-man Satoru Iwata has issued an apology to fans, after a general feeling that the E3 conference was not all it could have been. Nintendo's E3 was mainly focused on Wii Music and Animal Crossing: City Folk, leading many to think there wasn't much for the 'core' gamers.
"If there is any perception that Nintendo is ignoring the core gamers, it's a misunderstanding and we really want to get rid of that misunderstanding by any means. We are sorry about media briefings, specifically for those who were expecting to see Nintendo show something about 'Super Mario' or 'Legend of Zelda'".
"However, the fact of the matter is the so-called 'big titles' need a long, long development period. We really didn't think this year's E3 media briefing was the time to do so".
I'm not sure too many people were expecting to see a new Mario or Zelda game at E3, something like Star Fox or Kirby would have been nice though. That said, I don't think there's a need for this apology. Nintendo are doing a great job covering both core and casuals in my book.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

Maybe so but this years E3 was bogus for the hardcore gamer. I wanted to see Pikmin or Starfox like you mentioned even a 3 second Zelda or metroid teaser would have sufficed.

It wasn't needed but it was a nice touch. Good on you, Iwata.

I don't care. Although a new Star Fox does sound like a good thing.

/facepalm.

Star Fox or Kirby would be cool, but I'm feeling good that they didn't announce anything big this quarter. Why? One, they would have given us more notice, like screens or videos of game footage, something to get us all excited. Two, with Wii as the number one best-selling console, they have no pressure in making hard-core games rise to their full potential. Three, Nintendo's released several big games early (i.e. Zelda, Corruption, Galaxy, Brawl, Kart, any more?). Now, let's look at Sega! They're making not one, but TWO Sonic games in almost the same quarter! Overall, if we want quality games, we're going to have to wait and see what we're getting our money's worth for.

I disagree, they may be covering both well on the outside, but failed to show us at E3 that they are doing so. They needed to show us a title that says "I'm for core gamers", that would have solved the problem and we would have never seen them have to officially apologize. It was a problem. They fessed up. Enough said.

Yeah, your last paragraph about sums up the truth. Ahh well at least he cares about the fans unlike Sonic Team.

Unfortunately, there's people out there that feel like Nintendo (or any other company, for the matter) is there to please their every particular whim.

Yeah I was a little disappointed this year. Actually I was really disappointed but it's nice to see they've acknowledged it. There's always Leipzig.

Or even a new Metroid game would be great.

Why does everybody always say zelda, mario, kirby, metroid, or starfox? What about f-zero? How long have we been waiting for another game? Why is it they don't have anything? They are FAR overdue for kirby, f-zero, AND starfox, what's up with that?

I was kind of disappointed about e3 this year. This kind of makes it better I guess.

There were no true Nintendo fans complaining, although we would like some real virtual console titles. I am totally satisfied with metroid and mario.

E3 was a let down for me, I was expecting something more. Star wars and COD look good but there was a lot of casual focus but then Microsoft's and Sony's shows were boring as well.

Fzero and pilotwings would be nice.

Now it is time for you to apologize. For your racist and offensive graphic of Iwata. [My bad, Iwata! - WW].

When the biggest news is Pikmin (We knew Zelda was in the works) it's a sad year.
Nintendoof said:
I was disappointed in no Pikmin or any of the likes, but I agree with WiiNinja. They releases some major games already. So some of the other casual games might tide me over.
Nova said:
Yeah but even though it has little to do with Nintendo, it was cool to see that Sony lost exclusiveness to their biggest title, FFXIII, meaning failure to the ps3.
Juan L said:
E3 was horrible. I can't forgive Nintendo for making a console where the only good games have Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. They need to make at least one game that's not casual this year.

I vote for: F-Zero Wii. It would be awesome. The series as a whole needs to expand. It would be wii-wheel compatible, with online play like Mario kart, and a futuristic outlook.

Well, I am 1/2 and 1/2 for this. Although I did feel that E3 was a disappointment this year compared to others, I feel that Nintendo is holding something big from us.
Master Foot said:
In my opinion E3 was a complete snoozefest except for FF13. The fact that it's not a PS3 exclusive is a HUGE deal. I was hoping that FF13 and MGS 4 would been the PS3's saving grace. I bet that DMC4, GTA4 and FF13 will comtinue the trend of outselling respective the PS3 versions. Sony, get it together and secure some games. Good games.
Wii Rox said:
Y'know a lot of people, including myself, would be very excited to have a new pikmin, it's actually quite popular skull. But yes, the lack of announcements is a drag. Oh well, we still have.. 3 sonics to look forward to (although, SatBK seems kind of mediocre tbh) and we still have KSSU, so it isn't that bad.
Technom said:
Well, I don't listen any more to E3 news. We all know that it's not the same any more.
Nintenjosh said:
At least we'll be getting pikmin 3, and 3 sonic titles. That should keep us busy.
