Nintendochu, I sue you!

Gaming giants Nintendo were recently sued by Hollywood production company Morgan Creek over a commercial used to promote Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on GameCube.

Anyone who has seen the movie "True Romance" (better than it sounds) will likely remember this commercial's background music from the opening scene. The track known as "You're so cool" was composed by Hans Zimmer especially for the film, and it was claimed that Nintendo used the music without permission.

Only days later however, the lawsuit was withdrawn. Whether they settled out of court, or Nintendo did have the rights after all, is anybody's guess.

*UPDATE* - Nintendo did have permission. In a new statement it's been revealed that Leo Burnett Inc, the ad company behind the commercial obtained a license to use the music, causing Morgan Creek to drop the lawsuit.

I love that commercial. I think the song sounded different in the movie.

What is with all these companies and corporate SOBs trying to sue and put law suits on Nintendo. Paper Mario TTYD has been out for nearly three dang years, all these companies are making up crap to ruin Nintendo for some unknown reason.

Well another lawsuit surprise, surprise. It seems Big N always has a lawsuit (to and from it) ever since the "Try to make SEGA look heartless" lawsuit of 1992.

Actually, I just finished playing Paper Mario. REALLY funny game and the last boss is brutal! I believe that the matter was settled out of court as to minimize public awareness of any litigation that may compromise Nintendo's image. I'm diggin Judge Goomba. Maybe he should get a daytime talk show.
