Reggie - Big 3 will still hit this year

In a recent interview, Nintendo of America's president Reggie Fils-Aime reaffirmed that the plan is to release the three most anticipated games "all this calendar year".

The games in question are:

Reggie was still unable to give solid release dates though, saying that it depends on development. The decision is left to Mr Iwata and Mr Miyamoto to say when a game is ready.

"What I can tell you, for example with Metroid Prime 3, I've seen the latest build. It looks fabulous". When asked if it's possible the games could be delayed until 2008, he responded "I think the risk of that is very, very small".

Encouraging words there, the current Wii lineup could do with a few more meaty titles.

I'm getting all 3 so hurry up! There's no excuse for so many delays. It's probably a business tactic to release them all in succession around the holiday season.

I just want ssbb to come out before battalion wars 2 so I can buy it. That didn't make sense. I don't want battalion wars 2 to come out, me buy it then ssbb releases and I am caught without any money to buy it with. That would be sad.

Those three games can destroy production of an entire console. COUGH PS3 COUGH!

Hey, Elementrat. Maybe they just aren't ready yet. Did you think of that?

"A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever" ~Shigeru Miyamoto. They'll be ready when they're ready. And they'll all be awesome.

Nice quote, True Hitoare. Also, I like that picture of Reggie Fils-Aime. It fits his position on Metroid Prime 3. Can't wait until SSBB.

I like that quote from Miyamoto, but the delays have gone on long enough. What they should do is take some attention off these titles and onto 3rd party and VC games. Of course that in itself is impossible. Maybe the delay is because they are trying to incorporate a robust multiplayer for Prime 3. Of course, if they go for the triple threat release this Holiday season, PS3 will not stand a chance and 2007 will belong to Nintendo and Halo 3.

I sure hope it's worth the wait!

Nintendo is also taking great care not to screw up the release of 3rd party games. Nothing could be more damaging to a company releasing its main title of the year the same week one of the Nintendo heavyweight titles come out.

It's good that shigsy won't compromise on the quality, I don't mind the wait. Metroid's gonna be stunning, I can feel it!

Metroid was originally a launch title! They pushed it back a full year. It could possibly be to get the online service ready but, I think they are taking their time.

I agree with Master Foot. If they wait until 2008, PS3 will get a chance to catch up. If they release it this year, PS3 wouldn't stand a chance saleswise. There is a special news story about the Wii tonight in my local area.

I personally prefer Nintendo delays their games, because I want to play the best games possible.

I think MP3 will come out first, followed by SSBB and close behind SMG.

They delayed Twilight Princess for almost two years. I for one, am more than glad that they did. I think it is the best game ever. Maybe this new Mario will be more fun like the old NES days. I don't want another "Collect 100 stars" game. It gets boring and repetitive.

SSBB sounds cool when you say it fast.

Oops, grammatical mistake. I meant, I prefer Nintendo delaying their games, because it usually means that I'll get a better game experience out of it.

I'm looking for Brawl and Prime 3. I don't know about galaxy yet. You guys think these three games can hold up to the hype of Halo 3?

Yea, thumbstick FPS will look silly after Wii gets it right.

LOL nice picture.

Prime 3 is aiming to make the thumbstick FPS obsolete or at least make it a less preferred option. I believe that they can, since they are taking so long.

I don't mind waiting, not in the least. At least when they're all finished, I can play 'em, and when I'm finished I can look back and say "those were some of the best games ever!". The wait will be totally worth it.

Gonzo said:

The more the delay, the better they'll be.

Reggie has a point, the more we wait the better the games. Metroid is one of the best RPG's ever released to the world. I'm getting all 3 too.

I've had enough with Nintendo delays! I'm a huge Nintendo fan and always have been (I can't even bring myself to look at PS3s and XBox 360s), but the delays have gone on long enough. They announced Twilight Princess long before the Wii came out and despite speculation, they PROMISED that they would not hold it for the Wii. Guess what happened, they held it for more than two years after it was ready for the GameCube, to sell more Wii consoles and it worked. Metroid Prime 3 was supposed to be a launch title for the Wii, but they are delaying it. Miyamoto said that if Mario Galaxy wasn't ready by launch, that we would have it six months after launch, and it didn't happen. These games are all ready, and they hold them for when it benefits them the most. But pretty soon, they'll figure out that when they give us a release date, we just won't believe them. Ohh, and to the people who think that when they delay a game that it makes the games better, that's just dumb. These programmers get hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to devote hour after hour, day after day on these games. When they announce a release date, they're ready by that date. Period. Then the company decides when to release them. But we're getting pretty fed up with these delays. What do you guys think?

There still is a good chance that smash will come in 08, which I don't want to wait that long. Already have it on my christmas list.

Definitely getting all three.

You're so impatient Emmitt. You should be thankful that these are titles for the Wii period. Then we would have done all this waiting for nothing. And the only reason they extended the release date was to improve these games. Would you want to play crappy corruption, boring brawl, and gassy galaxy? No. So everyone think about that.
