I did something similar once by replacing the buttons in my SNES controller with Playstation buttons. It actually feels really nice since the buttons stick up taller and has a special feel to it.

When playing first time with xbox one stumbsticks on wii classic remember to put some pressure on sticks you'll hear click sound. Sticks work like a charm when properly put on place.
