I like how they're showing it's an event, and the gaming universe is welcome and stuff like that. The only thing I don't get is, Pit is an angel, and then he comes down and just beats up people. That is, outside of the storyline.

Etiher this will be the start of Pit's story when you choose him or you start adventure mode as Kirby and you swap over to Pit after beating Petey and you than swap over to someone else (eg. Mario) after finishing Pit's bit and you'll probably be him again later on.

This is a hint that the way to unlock pit will be through the subspace emissary? It's obvious because if you look at the beginning it shows pit watching the subspace emissary blowing up a chunk of earth. Then pit is sent to rescue the earth.
