The wily people at Datel are bringing out an Action Replay for Wii. EBGames list it at $34.99 and is set for an August release.
Action Replay is a series of accessories used for cheating and general tinkering about with a game's behavior by changing the values at certain memory addresses.

Sweet. I have three Action replays for ds, gc and gameboy advanced. I won't be missing out on this one!
Chaos said:
Action Replays are good for the purpose, but I think I'll pass this time around. I've gone straight since the old PlayStation days. I guess that others could argue that they only use it to "give them the help or the secrets they need" though.
Elementrat said:
I've gotten really curious about these lately. I'm just worried about messing up my game saves. I'm thinking about buying one.
Scooby Jew said:
So. It's basically a cheap Gameshark?
Seamninja said:
Never a fan of it but I'm sure it will be cool.
Master Foot said:
Won't it screw up games that automatically save to Wii's memory?
Wiipaw said:
Hahah! That's a funny picture.
stinky12694 said:
Why is Mr Goomba purple?
PHiRE said:
Because he's been modified with a cheat code.
Ekaj185 said:
Ohh, cheat code.
Unknown said:
Will it include freeloader?
joey24 said:
Yes!
PHiRE said:
I wouldn't expect it to include Freeloader, they're separate products aren't they?
Fishmon said:
No it's not a cheap gameshark. I've owned action replays and gamesharks and action replay is way better.
Gonzo said:
I'm getting it.
Hey said:
Action Wiiplay! That's an interesting guess, PHiRE. How'd you know?
me said:
You're stupid if you call it a cheap gameshark. Gameshark is for people that want a device that can give them infinite health on some games. AR is for people who want to do EVERYTHING they could ever hope, including doing things you only wish you could in games. Giant Silver Link fighting two shadow links and an arwing while changing size and time at will while flying with matrix-like powers. GS can't do that.
That One Guy said:
Wow me, I thought GS and AR basically had the same cheats. Guess I was wrong, anyways I'll probably not buy one.
That Other Guy said:
I think I might get one. Probably. Will Metroid 3 be out by then? Its release date was moved, right? Gosh why can't Nintendo ever do anything ON TIME.
Dan said:
I hope they make a code for Zelda: Twilight Princess to flip it back to how it's supposed to be, so Link can be left-handed again. I really hope they can find a way to do that!
SuperChuK said:
But will it be able to work with the Virtual Console games you've downloaded from the Shop Channel?
DarkxLinkEX said:
Can't wait for this! I'll be able to get to the beta forest in Twilight Princess.
HyperHacker said:
Gameshark is the name Action Replay was sold under in North America. They don't do that any more, since the company that was distributing it (Interact) went out of business.
Kommander said:
Another Action Replay? Well, I don't have a Wii yet (unfortunately) but when I do get one, I might buy this Action Replay. I already have it for the DS.
Static Dan said:
I've been a Nintendo fan ever since the snes and I've always bought the available action replay cheats. I think that it would be really cool to link the Wii up to the pc (2 USB slots on back) to update the cheats. Don't you think?
Jman730 said:
I only have one for the Gamecube and it was cool. I'm not going to miss this.
Mr Man said:
It's actually better than Gameshark Scooby Jew.
dj said:
Will I be able to use it on the wii's virtual console for games like F-Zero X?
Mushmallow said:
Hallelujah. I just want all the Rayman minigames unlocked. Everything completed. I'm tired of slamming port-a-potty doors.
big chick said:
Action replay won't work on Wii because of the updates.
GameWhore said:
I am so lost. How does action replay work? And what is this power save thing I keep finding?
chick chick chikin said:
Does Wii block any hack things like this?
DogWithRabies said:
What version of the Wii do you need? Like can you still update the Wii after using action replay?
Natalie said:
I've seen a release date as early as Feb 08 on a couple different websites (one of which I preordered from). Does anyone know which release date is real? Feb or August?
bah said:
Man. These are 08 dates right? That's going to kill waiting so long. I'm wanting to try some stuff.
coolio said:
This is the action replay powersaves which is useless.
IMY said:
I sent an email to Datel who make the action replays and all they said was, "An action replay system is currently in the works, please keep checking our site for further details".
Bogus said:
So much for the August release and so much for the relabeled February release. This title has been pulled.
wiesel said:
About time! I been waiting forever for this to come out. The only problem is that I'm not sure if it'll work for long, since Nintendo can probably scan your Wii for that kind of memory when posting messages to you.
randomssbbguy said:
The only thing I want out of this is additional characters in brawl. This is very unlikely but it would be sweet to see someone playing as tabuu on wifi.
that guy said:
Sweet I can't wait.
BowzerBoyz said:
I want to combine characters so that I can have, say, on Brawl, Game and Watch with Zelda's moves! Just imagine.
krazydaddy5 said:
I heard it will ruin your saved Wii games. Is this true?
DOH said:
No it's not, the action replay only edits memory on a memory card (at least on the gamecube version) so it won't disrupt the Wii in any way.
Shelbygt90 said:
This isn't going to be like the powersaves is it. It will be codes that you can put in, not a save. I got the power saves and I hate it.
Monojin said:
August? Aww.
Eru said:
GS and PAR are the same company and same product. They used to differentiate between JAP/USA models with PAR and GS, but now they just switch it up for different consoles/products. For the Wii, they are using PAR for the actual patch codes, whereas the GS is for gamesaves/editing.
JacKAsterisK said:
Actually DOH, it changes variables inside the RAM. Which would normally do nothing because it bleeds out, but considering the game saves information based on the data in the RAM it could potentially damage your existing game on the card because the variables can be unexpected to the game. I've been using these things for a while and never had any problem though. So I'd call it pretty safe.
Wiipaw said:
Now, I don't have AR Wii, but may I recommend Twilight Princess as a first usage game? First of all, you can change Links Hero's Clothing colors (I don't know how it works), you can change/replace "actors" (basically anything or anyone you see in the game that you can interact with), which can lead to some pretty odd boss battles (replace horse grass with Zant! Oh my god!), and, my favorite, fight enemies that are hidden in the game's ROM, but never made it into any levels. Example: The Alpha Statue, or something.
KT said:
What's a power save.
mediqueen said:
It won't mess up game saves. It's not a cheap gameshark. It's the replacement since gameshark failed to crack Nintendo and get a patent (which is sad because gameshark would send you a free replacement disc. Datel makes you buy a whole new device if the cd goes bad). It was set to be released back in April. But guess what. With the 3rd generation of gaming firmware upgrades can fix anything. And since datel won't just go straight with a cheat device only, rather than a freeloader/cheat device. Nintendo will nip it in the butt faster than you can pay for the action replay with a debit card. So leads me to wonder, what they did to it to think they can release it in 3 months? They couldn't do it a month ago. What changed?
ZeldaNerd said:
Sounds sweet! All I want to know is when it is coming out, and if it works for LoZ: TP.
dude said:
It is harder to do than a game shark then. Because gameshark does not need codes and this one does, I have it for DS.
pop said:
I hope it does come out because Action Replay is the stress relief of not being able to beat a game without dying and too many weapons to hit you to ruin your hard work. Life is already a challenge so I hope they really do send it out. It will be worth it and I have three of them: gameboy advance, gamecube, and the DS.
||bass said:
I agree, I don't see how the manufacturers are going to get around the fact that Nintendo can easily block the device with a simple firmware update. True, maybe Nintendo needs to grow up but let's face it, they won't.
Jarrod said:
If I do get this I won't bother updating my Wii.
terandactor said:
Can you add codes to it?
Tyler said:
What Wii firmware will it have to be to work?
yoshinaruto said:
I really want to use the action replay for Wii so I can make 3 of any pokemon I want on super smash bros brawl.
Ladmanguydudeboy said:
I've been waiting forever, I want something like zero suit in metroid prime 3, or 0% in brawl so I can get all the intense required trophies! I've beaten everything I have, and I'm still waiting for this.
gamefaqsatron said:
I just can't wait for this, swarms of hundreds of grunts and groups of heavy tanks with huge strato destroyer air support and dreadnought/frigate escort in battalion wars 2. Every enemy in the cave ordeals a rare chu to make it easier and bountiful, or all darknuts for an incredible challenge in twilight princess. Always having (or even having at all) a smashball in super smash brothers brawl. Galactic federation units are always invincible and pressing a certain button / combination of buttons summons one in front of you in metroid prime 3 corruption, etc.
tmax said:
I am a long time action replay user, this is not power saves. I already own power saves, it's not as good as the actual AR. You can tell it's the real deal because it says thousands of codes on the front which is their long time front cover motto on AR main product. Amazon may now be selling them.
r1l3yriguy said:
Will it have rayman raving rabbids 2 cheats cause I really want all costumes and I want all the mini games. I played all the trip modes 3 times and still didnt get all the mini games like "teenager in love" and burgerioni and stuff like that.
Tabuu said:
Sweet I can't wait to find a hack for brawl and use Bosses as playable characters! I will own WIFI.
ace said:
This is great I have been waiting for the action replay for a long time since my DS one broke. The only problem I would have buying it would be that Nintendo is going to update their firmware so that it will not work. This is definitely an item to look forward to.
Shadow Hedgehog said:
I read somewhere they aren't going to make one because if they did Nintendo would release an update so you can't use Action replay or any other cheat devices.
uubaT said:
Personally, I don't really need it for brawl because I can beat all bosses and boss battles on Intense. I might get it for other games.
Fox Mcloud said:
I don't need it for brawl either but maybe for metroid prime 3 corruption.
Megadash said:
It's about time. I'm really looking forward to this. I've been hacking my games since the original NES and I was afraid that it wouldn't come out. I only hack games after I've played them through (at least) once, so I'm more than ready for it.
bridget said:
Awesome! Because I need a cheat for animal crossing: let's go to the city/city folk on how to get more money.
Sparda said:
Action Replay is more than just about beating the game. It increases replay value as it enhances the game in ways that are not possible without it. A lot of hardcore gamers give it a bad rap because it takes the challenge away, but I say video games should be fun. If you want a challenge then be a man an' get off your ass and go join the marines or something.
Yo said:
Thank god! I need more bells and a mansion for Animal Crossing: City Folk.
cool o said:
How can you add cheats to it and does it have heatseeker cheats on it?
Shadowrules22 said:
I'll need this for SSBB.
Scrubs said:
When is this coming out? I heard august 08? Or is it 09? Someone please tell me so I can get this as soon as possible! Thanks.
Rovelius said:
That's completely useless, just get Ocarina on the Homebrew Channel and you get the same thing for free. Moreover, I'm sure you won't even be able to add your own codes just like they did with the latest AR for GameCube, 1.20 You can add custom codes on Ocarina.
Ash said:
This is a game-save. I have it and it ain't great. This won't harm your system at all, and Datel made an agreement with Nintendo to edit the memory addresses in their games so it is perfectly legit.
Sarah said:
I am getting one today. I hope they have a cheat for animal crossing and Guitar hero.
Wally said:
This is going to be great with the cheating and stuff. I think I will get it when it comes out.
Christian Dauria said:
When is this talking about? EBGames closed in like.. 2006. If anyone knows about this, please write.

When does the datel action replay for Wii comes out? And does it have pokemon battle revolution and harvestmoon tree of tranquility.
Meep said:
I really want it for my animal crossing because it's sooo boring. I've got action replay ds, it's so useful.
Bluedude02 said:
August passed! Why hasn't it come out yet?
Zac said:
I want this for ssbb. I beat it completely in 13 hrs but I just want to hack it like. Make sonic into shadow or make him have always ssonic you know or make link's fs mario's fs or something like that or have sshadow with regular powers of sonic and fly.
maddie said:
I bought a gameshark for Wii and action replay and I like the gameshark a lot better.
dave said:
So it's not coming out then?
mandude said:
It probably already came out by the time I post this but I want it for the bakugan game, sweet.
Khan said:
Animal Crossing alone is a good reason to get an action replay. Without one, things like weeds, unwanted villagers and deteriorating grass make the game very unfun.
ninja girl said:
How do you get codes to show up? I went to the sd card menu and nothing showed up.
zanku said:
What it does is it changes the ones and zeros to change game play and updates won't stop it because it changes the ones and zeros on the discs (not permanently).
Lexie said:
Did it come out? I haven't seen it in EBgames. And what the heck is powersave?
mariotime said:
I really need help on my 13 green stars. Will action replay help me?
ZerikMiz said:
It's awesome they're coming out with one for the Wii. I'm going to use it for my Brawl game so that I could play as Giga Bowser for an entire match.

Get the ar, I have a gameshark and it stinks! Ar is the best you can ever get.
the broseph said:
I had an AR for my gamecube and I cheated the heck out of loz tp. I created a dark link, I made midna orange, I had gannodorf's sword and swinging around like a monkey with claw shots - good time.

August of what? And how old is the article? I've been waiting patiently and no new news about if any action replay will be made for any of the current consoles.

I have action replay for ds, gc, pc, and game boy.

What is a power save because I seen datels Wii powersave and I want to know how it works.
JR said:
Does this work, is it a regular Action replay, when did it come out? And where can I buy it?
Marlupus said:
@HyperHacker Gameshark and Action Replay were two separate cheat devices sold independently. While I do personally prefer AR, there are many codes that are only available on Gameshark which, in my opinion, make them equally valuable.
SONNY said:
I purchased an action replay for the Wii at datel's website and it stinks you can not return it once you have it because of the license key even if it don't work and mine didn't. Beware if you buy this product, too many issues.
sonny said:
I forgot to mention extremely bad tech support.
Datel said:
It is not powersavers if that's what you're talking about. Actionreplay is awesome dumbass and actionreplay for Wii it is already out.
