The sixth Guide to Greener Electronics has recently been published by Greenpeace, and for the first time console manufacturers are under the microscope. The main criteria for ranking companies consists of:
Unfortunately our beloved Nintendo didn't do too well. Across each of the nine categories, Big N scored a whopping 0, ending up with a final score which is also 0. Microsoft fared a little better (2.7), while Sony did alright (7.3).
Maybe next year.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

That's because Nintendo assumes that we won't be throwing away the products we buy. I know I never do, so I guess, in some strange way, I'm doing my part for the environment. Go me.

Yea Sony need the recycling considering their console is trash.
Elebot said:
Sony and Microsoft have other things they do though. They're appealing to a broader audience, so they'd have to be careful with everything they do.
The Yoshi Guy said:
Darn you Sony! They probably got a good rating for not using natural resources a lot, since people aren't buying lots of PS3s!
hbh said:
Why throw away a game console? You could probably get at least $80 for a gamecube.
Scooby Jew said:
I'd rather die playing my "uncleaned" Wii than the PS3, and as Dragon said: Wiis don't have an expiration date. If somebody does get rid of their Wii for some God-awful reason, somebody else will quickly buy it. Nintendo doesn't have to recycle something that will never become obsolete. Why didn't those Greenpeace people see all that? Sony fanboys, I bet.
Juan said:
No, now hippies won't buy a Wii.
sidkid004 said:
Methinks that this Greenpeace crap is all a scam by Sony because they aren't selling consoles. Plus, has Nintendo even revealed what's in the Wii? Not to my knowledge. And another thing, Greenpeace is probably just mad that all the money Nintendo is making is resulting in thousands of trees being cut down. Anyway this is a load of bs.
sidkid004 said:
I thought the Wii was the greenest console or at least more green than the PS3. The Wii is tiny and gives off as much energy as a toaster and the PS3 is as huge as my couch and probably consumes a lot of electricity. Besides, doesn't every console run off good old electricity and not some hippie earth-saving juice?
AlexKidd said:
Whoever throws away Nintendo products should be kicked in the ass. Sony scores higher because their software belongs in the trash.

Sony scoring higher while Nintendo scores 0? Hmmm, something smells fishy.

This could be a problem.

Just give Greenpeace a Wii to quiet them down.

Myself boos Greenpeace. Bunch of hippies.

I thought tree-huggers were all but extinct. They're probably high if they gave Sony a better score than Nintendo.
wiicloud9 said:
Hbh, nah. Over here, they buy it for only $30.

I agree with scooby jew, Big N's consoles are fun for a long time. Did you see how many people were disappointed that Nintendo stopped fixing NES's?
Epsilon said:
SHAME, Nintendo. That's all I have to say. To all of you blaming Sony as well. Yes, I am a Nintendo fan, being that all my gaming systems are Nintendo ones, but a ZERO? That's pathetic. Same to Microsoft. But guys, you really have to realize that the Wii isn't for everyone, or at least not yet, and sometimes stuff breaks down and you have to throw it away, regardless of whether you like it or not so guys, quit it with the wild accusations.
Zenda said:
I think Greenpeace's report is concerning. This ISN'T about hippies. We have to take care of the resources available and not use them all at once. Nintendo should stop giggling about their profits, NOT until they don't have hazardous chemicals in their products.
doglover said:
Let's see here, the Wii costs less to save trees because of less paper money and ores in the earth for metal coins and uses less than 10% of electricity which is usually made from coal or other fossil fuels, I believe they should start nagging the PS3 and Xbox 360 makers.
TruBlu said:
Oh geez. Now Sony fanboys/girls are going to nag us about how the PS3 is environmentally friendly it is. And the graphics (ugh).
