Wii supports Wavebird

Wii supports Wavebird

It's been confirmed that the Wii will support the Wavebird, the current wireless controller of choice for the Gamecube.

Some users had raised questions about the Wavebird's RF signal interfering with the Wiimote, but this hasn't turned out to be a problem. Another concern was the docking station where the gamecube controller ports are, but the area is perfectly flat and the Wavebird's receiver will fit in just fine.

I was REALLY worried about that one! I was gonna give my sister my Wavebird because she has a Gamecube and I was gonna sell my Gamecube for a Wii (Since Wii can play the Gamecube games). But now, I won't! My sister's gonna be angry.

Just to clarify, this of course means Wii can not use Wavebird out of the box, you still need the receiver! Other than that, good to hear.

Umm the guy at EB games said that normal controls can't be used, what's the difference with the Wave Bird? I know it's wireless but still.

He was probably talking about for actual Wii games. This news is just saying the Wavebird can be used for playing Gamecube titles on the Wii.

But certain games for the wii will also use the gamecube controller, those that don't work well with the new mote, such as super smash brothers brawl. I believe the guy at EB was absolutely wrong, unless he was referring to the previous controllers like nes, snes, n64. But if I'm wrong, by all means correct me. Even though I know I'm not!

What I am really wondering is if my retro controller will work with the virtual console. If it did, I think that would be better even than Nintendo's retro controller. Mine is a pelican version of a Gamecube controller that has no c-stick or the like, and looks almost identical to a SNES controller. I suppose it would work if the Gamecube controller worked with virtual console games.

Very cool, I have wondered about this but the bigger sites I've looked at have no information on this whatsoever.

I have a wave. I was planning to use it with my Wii so it's good to hear it'll work.
