Tony Hawk Ride announced

Earlier today, publishers Activision revealed the next skating game in the Tony Hawk series. It's called Tony Hawk: Ride and comes with a skateboard peripheral to (hopefully?) enhance gameplay. The deck-shaped controller can be seen below:

Is this the kind of innovation that the franchise needs to breathe new life into it? There's also a trailer, although it doesn't show much in the way of gameplay at all.
