Toy producer Wham-O Inc announced a deal with FOG studios today. It will see them bringing toys like the frisbee, hula hoop, slip 'n slide and the humble hacky sack into a video game format. Wham-O's commented:
"Although there have been some Wham-O branded interactive products previously, the control interfaces for these titles were incapable of replicating the physical experience users enjoyed from the original toys".
"With accelerometer-type controllers like the one used on Nintendo Wii, users can make the same throwing motion they would with a Frisbee in real life and see an appropriate reaction of the toy on screen".
Good news if you crave some frisbee action on a rainy day? Between me and you, I'm not too optimistic for this one.

Wii's World is not officially affiliated with Nintendo! (but they wish we were).

How would that work? The Wiimote reads like 30 feet, I think and people generally throw frisbees a little further than that and not at their TV screens. I guess I'll just wait to find out, but it's still somewhat exciting to see companies trying new things with the Wii.

Me either. I don't really need this news.

Frisbee Golf anyone?
Elementrat said:
Yeah. Throwing frisbees isn't really all that fun in the first place. But I think much better than standing in front of a TV and pretending to throw a frisbee. It just doesn't sound fun. HOWEVER, if they threw in some crazy wacky action a la WarioWare, it could have a chance.

HOORAY an exciting game where you throw a frisbee, then get, and throw. Then get it. And throw. Why not buy one for cheaper than $50 and throw one yourself?

Maybe if you can kill giant enemy _____ with the frisby, and hula hoop to defend against lasers.

Look into what is called disc golf or frisbee golf. Takes more skill then regular golf and the frisbees are weighted, we are talking about throwing 300 to 400 feet. I think this is what they are getting at.

This game would be a lifesaver on rainy days. I don't usually play video games but my buddy has a Wii gathering dust and I would definitely play this on a gloomy day.

Frisbee golf on Wii sports resort is awesome! I need more courses so hopefully the idea will be developed. It's the future of Wii golf.

Disc golf is the largest growing sport in the USA. Check it out (rather than sitting on your fat butt, posting). It's fun, and it's free, for the most part. Since I can't play at night, the Wii version sounds great.

Scooby jew, seriously? The Wii doesn't involve throwing things at your tv set. It adds to the remote so you feel like you're holding a real frisbee or whatever.
