NHL hockey on Wii

Hockey fans finally have something to cheer for, 2k, the sports division of Take-Two has announced NHL 2K9. This is the first NHLPA licensed hockey game for the Wii and of course, you will get the chance to use the Wiimote as a hockey stick. 2K president Christoph Hartmann spoke:

"It's our goal this year to bring the fun back to hockey video games. NHL 2K9 for Wii includes the full feature set as available on other platforms, and added Wii Remote controls and other exciting features specific for the Wii console will allow dedicated fans the opportunity to fully enjoy and embrace NHL hockey in a brand new experience".

NHL2K9 is expected for release during the third quarter of 2008. So until then, get the puck out of here.

Finally! About two years late, but finally we receive a legitimate hockey title on the Wii. This game has so much potential, with the wiimote being used for stickhandling and such. Who knows, maybe they will include a goalie mode where you use the nunchuck as the glove and stick as the blocker.
