Necro-Nesia renamed
Seemingly one of the worst cases of renaming ever, the game formerly known as Necro-Nesia is now called Escape from Bug Island. No...

Anyone know anything about this game?

It's supposedly a suspense/horror genre game, involving large insects. That pretty much sums up my knowledge of it. It'll be interesting to see how well the game performs as a member of its genre, since many people are wanting Nintendo to carry some darker, more mature games. If this game does well, it could very well mark the beginning of more adult-oriented games coming out on top of the extensive list of non-age-specific games. In that regard, it shares a spot with Red Steel in the roster of upcoming games.

Necro means "black" or "death" in Latin so it must be scary.

Hey BlankZero, Nintendo is doing more darker and mature stuff. Ever played Geist?

Maybe it's about necrophiliacs if you guys know what they are, but I highly doubt Nintendo would allow it lol. Or it could be about dead people like and you have to kill them.

Darunia I was planning on buying Geist but never got the chance to. What's it about and is it good?

Avatar

Hey said:

It's about being some dead guy and possessing people and being awesome. It surprised me how it was an M-rated Nintendo game though.

You really shouldn't be surprised "Hey", there have been M-rated games published by Nintendo before, but there are so few that they're easy to overlook. Only two spring to mind, Geist and Perfect Dark. Both were developed by third-party companies and published by Nintendo. My impression of this game? I think it'll be Resident Evil with bugs kind of like how Silent Hill was. Resident Evil but more supernatural.

Avatar

Hey said:

That'll be cool . But I think Perfect Dark and Geist were Second-party games. I'm not sure. All I know is that Rare (which did Perfect Dark) is now owned by Micrsoft.

Apparently the E3 build of this had really lousy controls, you had to dodge back just to go backwards because you can't turn around.

tjs said:

If that's true I hope it's worked out.

Isn't it a little resident evilish. Because it has all the zombie bugs and whatnot.

There is already going to be another M-rated game on the Wii. Has anyone here heard about "Sadness"? You play as a lady in pre-WWI and you have to use things like rats and stuff as weapons. It's supposed to turn out being quite depressing.

So we're going to be fighting monsters with a puny stick the whole 1st half of the game? I want to see more of this when they showcase trailers for it.

Speaking of rare, they are bringing out the next banjo kazooie on X360. Bummer.

BANJO KAZOOIE ON 360! NOOOO! *cocks pistol against forehead*. As for this game, it looks cool and I'm glad Nintendo is looking to get a bit darker and more serious. Of course, we don't want it to lose its awesome kid-like style, but it's nice to see Nintendo expanding its horizons *pulls trigger*.

Looks pretty cool but I think this will be a game I will hire.

It looks like something off Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds.

I hope Wii will have more M rated games because I really like them, they're fun! GTA would be pretty awesome on Wii too.

In the new screenshots the main character looks so lifeless.

Banjo does not belong on 360! Wii would be the best platform for it to shine on and showcase the wiimote. Banjo is going to end up in the dust pile along with Perfect Dark Zero. This game looks interesting.

This title looks like nintendo's anwser to silent hill.

It is an adventure genre, not a suspense/horror genre. The game looks awesome. Thumbs up on the graphics.

I think we should all buy this game, just to show our support of more mature games.

This looks like the bizzarest game ever. Retarded guy on ground crawling = everybody who bought the ps3.

This game looks like resident evil and for me that's a good thing.

What the hell is this? I've heard of Escape from Monkey Island, but this is even stranger! But yet, it looks cool. Think I might get it.

trentonWii said:

Man. I'm getting tired of people calling all second person shooters like RE. A) for RE4 it was more over your shoulder B) 2 of the games were FPS and the others were all 3rd person. There's only one second person RE game! Resident evil was 3rd person. So technically you mean RE4, but that doesn't take away from the fact you're a noob.

Avatar

trentonWii said:

It doesn't even look like a 3rd person RE in my opinion either. I don't even think you get guns in this game.

Avatar

Wiimaster said:

You actually get "survival like items" like: rocks, twigs, flashlight and others (I saw a shotgun in one clip so).

Avatar

trentonWii said:

So, there's a lot of survival games.

Avatar

trentonWii said:

Sorry, it's just that RE popularity these days, it seems most people just like it because of RE4 instead of playing RE1, 2, 3 CVX. The classics.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

I'd have to agree with trentonWii. It's better to start off from the beginning. I mean, playing a game ahead of the series would spoil the storyline for the series. In other words, not looking from the beginning and try something new. (Unless the sequel for a game is actually a prequel. Like Devil May Cry 3 and Valkyrie Profile 2 *love that game*^^!).

First I thought this game was about a graveyard keeper guarding the graveyard from necrophiliacs. Now I think it's just some bad horror game that people who think that the first castlevania was scary would play.

Avatar

trentonWii said:

Well Seamninja, I've never played a game that was genuinely frightening. I never was scared shitless of any RE silent hill game. There's a couple of scary pop out now n then. It was more just because they were fun. And horror movies for example, I watch them for the excitement. None are really that scary.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

This game doesn't really look scary to me. I mean, I've probably seen worse. Like when I was 11 (or 12) and I saw Friday the 13th on VHS. But I wasn't scared of that back then.

Just saw a new trailer and looks even better and darker!

Aww someone name me a scary movie, whenever someone tells me one, it turns out to be mystery (e.g signs), gory (e.g saw) or funny (e.g Psycho).

Captain Jamesman said:

How bout Scary Movie 3 or 4?

Avatar

trentonWii said:

IT, I saw it when I was 8. Scared me shitless. Battle royal is another good one.

Avatar

trentonWii said:

I just saw some japanese footage of the game. It was cool. You fight mantis, cockroaches and weird land fish. The action's cool and you can go into first person.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

What about the movie with Freddy Crooger? (Don't know if that's spelled right).

Avatar

o.O said:

Looks awesome actually, kind of like a survival horror type theme to me. I just hope that there are some weird bug human hybrids to fight.

Avatar

wiimaster said:

US release date is may 15 supposedly.

Crimson Hawk said:

Misery is a weird movie, that lady is a psycho. Steven King makes the best scary movies EVER, his best work (I think) is The Shining, just thinking about it makes me shutter. "Here's johnny. HAHAHAHAHAHA"! He was a psycho when he was possessed.

Avatar

Captain Jamesman said:

I love that saying, "HERE'S JOHNNY!". I hope this game puts great things into our minds. Like more bravery. Anyone who's a coward should not play this.

What's he doing in screen 3?

Either he's sky diving, or having sex with a tree limb.
